ITACyL held a workshop entitled “Opportunities and challenges for a competitive positioning of agri-food bioeconomy in the province of Leon” on the 10th September 2019 in Hospital de Órbigo (Spain).
The objective of the workshop was to highlight the opportunities and challenges for a competitive positioning of agri-food bioeconomy in the province of Leon. Research institutions from the province of Leon presented their results, together with transboundary institutions from Galicia and Portugal. The main topics addressed in the workshop were biorefinery projects for the agrarian sector, use of organic by-products, wastewater treatment and use of biofertilisers. In addition, the project Biovino, which has just started, was presented, paying special attention to comprehensive and sustainable valorisation of winery wastes in integrated biorefineries.
Audience: Farmers and agri-food companies interested in improving their farm businesses by means of a circular, holistic and sustainable use of their feedstocks and by-products.
